Brookshire ended Nursing Home Week with splash by hosting a fishing expedition and cook out to help everyone unwind after a full week of celebrating. Residents, families, family council, and employees joined in the fun. The first fish was caught by Howard Alexander, one of our short term rehab residents and rehab star of the month. Our administrator, Trish Laird, paddled Mr. Alexander to the middle of the pond in the skiff for him to drop his hook and worm, and within a couple of minutes he hooked a big sun perch. For lunch, everyone enjoyed grilled hotdogs, chips, and all the trimmings. Our Chef grilled the fish for those wanting a taste and Anitra, our Director of Nursing made s’mores over the grill.
The Nursing Department continues to raise the bar on the expectations from our nursing staff. Anitra Davis, Director of Nursing at Brookshire Residence, believes that continuing education and training is a key component to successful nursing. Therefore, we have implemented a new training program, hosting on-site critical thinking workshops twice a month.
The goal is to reinforce and validate the nursing process. Our nurses will receive continual training through hands on classroom work, video training, testing and consistent policy and procedures technique.
We are dedicated to providing exceptional acute care to our community with the highest level and standards of care. We know that our exceptional nursing staff is integral to achieving this goal and we are pleased to offer training to help our nursing staff better help our residents.
